“When visiting Steven in his one-bedroom apartment in New York’s Lower East Side for the first time, I noticed his impressive and complete collection of New York Times’ monthly cultural supplement T Magazine. He had every single issue, sometimes multiple copies, from its first launch in August 2004. Steven was not particularly a wealthy man, and most of his collection materials were either given to him, found on fashion store counters or obtained for free in other ways. At Steven’s memorial service, a friend in common told me how he had managed to collect them all.
