Per Spook's career as a fashion designer is unparalleled. He came to Paris in 1959, aged 20. After internships at Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, he was appointed head designer at Louis Féraud in 1962. In 1977 he opened a fashion house in his own name. In the years up to 1994, he presented two haute couture collections every year, three of which won French fashion's highest awards: The Golden Soul and the Golden Thimble.
Spook's style was consistent, simple and utilitarian, with colorful and imaginative touches. In Paris, he was perceived as a fashion designer with a clear Nordic character. Seen through Norwegian eyes, it is a combination of the Nordic and the French styles that constitutes his distinctive character - the simple and user-friendly combined with the elegant and refined.
