Qui Cherche Trouve? is the 2023 final exhibition of the MA Fashion Studies at The New School Parsons Paris. The event invites visitors to reflect on the spaces, actors, objects and politics of researching fashion, provocatively adopting the proverb "qui cherche trouve" as a title to question what it means to study fashion today.
The exhibition presents a series of projects developed by MA Fashion Studies students in collaboration with different institutions such as the Ferragamo Museum, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, Palais Galliera and the International Library of Fashion Research. The venue hosted the installation 'Printed Dialogues' where we explore two libraries and two collections for research: the International Library of Fashion Research (Oslo) and the library of Parsons Paris - specifically the collection donated by Palais Galliera Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. This installation puts into dialogue these two paper-centered collections creating narratives for studying fashion and inviting visitors to interact with crucial documents in the study of body politics, beauty ideologies, photography, visual and material culture at large.
