We’re excited to announce the opening of our new exhibition “FOLD-OUT: Tracing Nordic Fashion Magazines” (powered by Scandinavian Photo) on Tuesday 11th of November at 18.00-20.00. There will be an introduction to the exhibition, free drinks and a lottery. Open for all – welcome!
“FOLD-OUT: Tracing Nordic Fashion Magazines” looks at the networks, collaborations, and creative constellations that have shaped the Nordic fashion scene over the past four decades. Twelve large-format single images drawn from fashion editorials are presented, alongside the original magazine in which it was published. This creates a dialogue between the isolated image and its editorial context, revealing how design, photography and layout intersect. The exhibition questions the mutual dependency between the magazines as active agents and the creation of flourishing eco systems of fashion practitioners. “FOLD-OUT: Tracing Nordic Fashion Magazines” ultimately uncovers a web of dynamic practices, ephemeral gestures, and relational ties that define Nordic fashion and printed culture.
The exhibition is a result of the research project “Nordic Fashion, Printed Culture & Heritage Making”, conducted by Edoardo Ferrari and supported by the Nordic Culture Fund. Through this research, he gathered a significant collection of printed matter from the region, with a specific focus on independent Nordic fashion magazines. This material was then catalogued and preserved, forming a dedicated part of International Library of Fashion Research’s permanent collection, and now on display as part of “FOLD-OUT: Tracing Nordic Fashion Magazines”.
