Fashion Projects: 15 years of Fashion in Dialogue. A Conversation with Francesca Granata

Tuesday, October 14, 2025 – 15:30Tuesday, October 14, 2025 – 16:30

Welcome to a conversation on fashion criticism and its numerous forms with the renowned fashion scholar Francesca Granata!

With point of departure in her book “Fashion Projects: 15 years of Fashion in Dialogue”, Granata will further explore how fashion as cultural and artistic phenomena can contribute to new understandings of society and history, if treated critically. Fashion criticism is often shaped by superficial press coverage and visual elements. It’s a field that has traditionally been under heavy pressure because of the industry’s pursuit of profit and other pitfalls. In the conversation Granata will elaborate on fashion’s new and more experimental forms of critical fashion, driven by interdisciplinary and socially engaged perspectives.

The conversation will be introduced by Hanne Eide, curator of contemporary fashion at the National Museum of Norway, and be moderated by Elise By Olsen, fashion critic and archivist. The event is a collaboration between the National Museum of Norway and International Library of Fashion Research, and is free to attend.
