Tuesday, May 19, 2026 – 18:0020:00

International Library of Fashion Research

We're excited to welcome graphic designer and educator Stefania Malmsten for her Guest Salon «Magazines, the Nineties and the Now». Join us on Tuesday 19th of May from 18.00-20.00. Free coffee & notebooks. Welcome!

Stefania Malmsten is a graphic designer and an educator. Stefania was one of the founders of legendary magazines Pop and Bibel and was the creative director of fashion and culture magazine Rodeo between 2012 and 2015. Stefania has received numerous prizes, including the typography award Berling Prize, and was elected to the Platinum Academy, the Swedish design and advertising Hall of Fame, in 2021. She is a senior lecturer at the Visual Communications department at Beckmans College of Design. Together with Göran Söderström she has designed the typefaces Line, Inline and Tid.

For her Guest Salon she will talk about her work as one of the initiators of the fashion and culture magazine Bibel in the late nineties, and as creative director of Rodeo magazine around 2015. She will talk about the role and the attraction of the magazine, what an editorial approach to graphic design means in her work today, and her experience from teaching editorial design at Beckmans College of Design.

This is the 19th edition of Guest Salons; an active meeting point for free conversations around and beyond fashion. In collaboration with the Norwegian graphic designer’s union Grafill, this season’s Guest Salons extend on Edoardo Ferrari’s research project “Fold-Out: Tracing Nordic Fashion Magazines” that takes the temperature on the current state of fashion publishing. The series is generously supported by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.

The event is free, but please sign up via THIS link.
