Slow Fashion Book Club meeting #15

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 – 18:4520:00

International Library of Fashion Research

Once a month, the Slow Fashion Book Club explores the intersection between fashion, environmentalism and social issues through a selected book. What impact does design, aesthetics and our sartorial choices have on the people around us and the planet?

In June, we're reading Fashion-ology by Yuniya Kawamura, Professor of Sociology at Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. The book covers topics such as subcultures, collectivity and the impact of the digital age on designers, and perhaps most relevant for the Slow Fashion Book club are the two new chapters have been added for the third edition, covering ‘The Diversification and Changing Landscapes of Fashion Systems’ and ‘Ecological and Social Sustainability in Fashion’.

Happy reading and see you on June 10 for discussions! New and existing members are welcome, and if you have any questions, you can email theslowfashionbookclub@gmail.com, or DM @slowfashionbookclub on Instagram.
